Psalms 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible. It is a wonderful meditation and prayer about the Word of God, written in 176 verses and divided into twenty-two stanzas. In Hebrew, each line of the eight-line stanzas starts with the same letter – the first eight with “Aleph” (“A”), the next eight with “Beth” (“B”), and so on through the Hebrew alphabet.
- Aleph – They walk in His ways
- Beth – Let me not wander
- Gimel – I am a stranger in the earth
- Daleth – My soul clings to the dust
- He – Teach me, O LORD
- Waw – And I will walk at liberty
- Zayin – I will remember Your name
- Heth – You are my portion, O LORD
- Teth – But now I keep Your word
- Yod – That I may live
- Kaph – Like a wineskin in smoke
- Lamed – The consummation of perfection
- Mem – Sweeter than honey to my mouth!
- Nun – A light unto my path
- Samek – I hate the double-minded
- Ayin – It is time for You to act, O LORD
- Pe – As Your custom is
- Tsadde – An everlasting righteousness
- Qoph – You are near, O LORD
- Resh – Great are Your tender mercies, O LORD
- Shin – Nothing causes them to stumble
- Tau – Like a lost sheep
